First anniversary flowers

It’s a year today since my first post on WordPress, after I moved my blog from the other place.  And in celebration of this anniversary the olive flowers on our Lucque tree are starting to open:

olive flowers 1

olive flowers 2

olive flowers 3

olive flowers 5

There’s so much promise in such tiny flowers – they’re only about 3 or 4 mm across when they’re open.  I hope we can keep the olive fly away from the crop this  year!

  1. Just seeing your photos made me want to sneeze (seriously allergic to olive pollen, but what can you do when you live in Olive-ville?!) but huge congratulations on a fabulous year of blogging! Yay, doesn´t time fly when you´re having fun! Here´s to the year ahead🙂

    • They don’t seem to have much of a scent. Olive fly IS nasty – it lays its eggs inside the developing fruit and when the larva hatches it eats and ruins the flesh, making it bitter and not much use. Last year we lost most of our crop this way.
