It’s a year today since my first post on WordPress, after I moved my blog from the other place. And in celebration of this anniversary the olive flowers on our Lucque tree are starting to open:
There’s so much promise in such tiny flowers – they’re only about 3 or 4 mm across when they’re open. I hope we can keep the olive fly away from the crop this year!
I’m so envious of your olive trees. The leaves and flowers look wonderful. I shall have to go and coax mine by telling them about your Luques:)
Yes, maybe you could encourage them that way!
Just seeing your photos made me want to sneeze (seriously allergic to olive pollen, but what can you do when you live in Olive-ville?!) but huge congratulations on a fabulous year of blogging! Yay, doesn´t time fly when you´re having fun! Here´s to the year ahead 🙂
Thanks for the congratulations, but sorry to hear about your olive flower allergy – it must be very difficult for you in Andalucia at this time of year!
Olive trees are beautiful, good luck with yours!
the flowers are so pretty, great photos too!
Congratulations 😉
Happy birthday to the home of olives and artichoke(s), and may we have many more years of blog delights from you!
My olive tree made a total of 1 olives last year and I was proud. Yours puts me to shame. 🙂
This one had a lot of flower last year, as now, but then the fruit was attacked by olive fly so we didn’t have much of a crop in the end. Maybe yours will have more this year.
Gorgeous! When is harvest time?
November – if they escape the olive fly.
Fingers crossed!
Happy “anniversary”! Looking forward t more years of your blog… love these photos! Do they have a scent? And what is “olive fly”? Sounds nasty…
They don’t seem to have much of a scent. Olive fly IS nasty – it lays its eggs inside the developing fruit and when the larva hatches it eats and ruins the flesh, making it bitter and not much use. Last year we lost most of our crop this way.
A little late to the party but happy anniversary. Can’t wait to see what years 2 through whatever will bring …
